DASA countering drones challenge

DASA is looking for proposals to develop innovative solutions that address the increasing threat to defence and security by Unmanned Air Systems (UAS)

What's the open innovation challenge?

The Defence and Security Accelerator (DASA) is looking for proposals to develop innovative solutions that address the increasing threat to defence and security by Unmanned Air Systems (UAS).

Please note, this is Phase 2 of a multi-phase competition. However, you can still apply even if you did not participate in Phase 1 but you should become familiar with bids funded through the Phase 1 competition.

This competition consists of three challenges that build on the phase 1 themes:

  • Fixed Site Protection
  • Mobile Protection
  • Maritime Protection

Phase 2 seeks to mature components towards integration into a counter drone system capable of performing wide area detection, positively identify threats, accurately track its location and successfully deny or defeat it.

£1.5 million is available to fund Phase 2 and additional funding may become available for future phases to further develop technologies to higher TRL.

Individual proposals for Phase 2 projects are expected to be in the range £250,000 to £350,000 (excluding VAT), with a maximum contract duration of 12 months.
