Digital health in developing economies

How can we use space-based applications to advance the provision of seamless and sustainable healthcare in developing economies?

What is the open innovation challenge?

The European Space Agency (ESA), in collaboration with AXA One Health and the Wish Foundation, is seeking to support the development of innovative space-based applications in the area of digital health for developing health ecosystems. The aim is to reduce the technical and commercial risks for their implementation and operation.

Areas of focus

  • Health information digitalisation: improving serviceability of patients as part of outreach efforts through geo-mapping surveillance, vector surveillance and vulnerability assessment
  • Improving diagnosis and treatment
  • Enabling elderly care technologies

Projects will be 100% funded up to €200,000 each.


This competition will open for applications on 14 December 2020.

Deadline for applications is 12 March 2021.
