Enel Green Power: Mitigating the environmental impact of large photovoltaic plants innovation challenge

Can you partner with Enel Green Power, a renewable energy sector leader, to lower the environmental impact that large photovoltaic plants have on the environment?

What's the open innovation challenge?

Enel Green Power (EGP) is committed to contributing to sustainable development goals. EGP is looking for innovative partners to help explore green energy solutions that mitigate environmental energy impact while maximising the benefits for local communities.

Innovation challenge details

The number of operational photovoltaic power (PV) plants has grown rapidly worldwide. But PV plants require large tracts of land for solar panel installation which result in ecological changes. These raise environmental issues such as desertification, reduction of flora and fauna, water contamination, and increased water use for panel cleaning.

EGP is looking to product and idea innovation to ensure energy efficiency while at the same time protecting local habitats and communities. Solutions that can be developed on a global scale that will bring radical change to the energy sector.

This open innovation challenge is focused on three key sustainable development goal areas:

  • Affordable and clean energy
  • Decent work and economic growth
  • Life on land

Submissions to this challenge must be received by midnight on July 15, 2019. For full challenge details visit the Enel Green Power challenge website link below. For questions about the challenge and your proposal you can contact the Enel Open Innovability Challenges team.
