Supercharging MOD’s power quality management market consultation

Can you help the Ministry of Defence better understand the market capability and technologies available to improve power efficiency across its ships?

The challenge

The Ministry of Defence (MOD) wishes to better understand the market capability to address power quality, power factor, and harmonic distortion and how the existing or developing technologies could improve power efficiency across its state and ships.

The MOD is also keen to understand its capacity to take on distributed energy resources (DERs) such as solar and electric vehicle (EV) fast charging, especially when multiples are stacked on the same local grid or site.

MOD seeks to identify solutions at technology readiness level TRL 4 or above, and solutions with lower TRL that are likely to mature within a year.

As part of this market consultation you'll be asked for a title and short summary of your innovation, along with questions related to your organisation, your idea and technology maturity.

The Defence and Security Accelerator (DASA) is seeking to understand what and how much further development is required for a complete solution, or whether a combination of separate solutions is required.

The information you provide will assist in developing a statement of requirements for potential future activities.

Information you provide, that is not already available from other sources, will be handled in confidence.

Submissions must be made by midday, 19 August 2021.
