Wave Energy Scotland challenge

Wave Energy Scotland (WES) is seeking external experts and an innovative technological design solution for its wave energy device coupling system challenge.

What's the open innovation challenge?

Wave Energy Scotland (WES) is a wholly owned subsidiary of Highland and Islands Enterprise and is taking an innovative approach to supporting the commercialisation of the wave energy sector until the technical and commercial risks are low enough for the private sector to re-enter the sector.

WES is exploring options for the design and development of a system which will allow rapid connection/disconnection of a wave energy device from its moorings and/or electrical system.

Seeking the right solution

The connection system and method adopted must be able to reduce the time and cost of installation and marine operations relating to a wave energy project.

Brokerage event

WES are hosting a brokerage event on Wednesday 14 August 2019 at the Technology Innovation Centre (TIC) Glasgow.

It's currently expected to take place between 9am and 4pm with lunch provided.

Funding support

A successful company will secure 100% funding for pre-commercialisation development via WES and Highlands and Islands Enterprise.

The tender will be published on or around 31 July 2019.
