Wireless Communications, Networking and Information Theory Competition

Can you innovate to boost UK wireless communications capability?

What is the open innovation challenge?

Phase 1 of this competition focusses on information exchange capabilities that are resilient in a highly-dynamic operating environment with challenges from congestion and contention, such as jamming.

The Defence and Security Accelerator (DASA) is running this competition on behalf of the Defence Science and Technology Laboratory (Dstl). The aim is to deliver an array of technologies in the range of Technology Readiness Levels (TRL) 3 to 6. The following areas are of interest:

  • novel communication techniques
  • novel coding and modulation
  • novel networking techniques

Proposals can be based on novel ideas within existing communications standards and defence networks, or for completely new approaches to transmitting information.

Projects must complete by end of February 2022.

How much is the award?

Organisations can apply for a share of £500,000 (inclusive of VAT).

There is no upper limit per proposal for this competition, but is anticipated that 5-10 contracts will be awarded.

This competition will close at 12pm (noon), 07 April 2021.

Suppliers must submit a Supplier Assurance Questionnaire prior to the competition close.
